 The season upcoming

This past Saturday night in Southampton Carola and Bob Jain hosted a lovely kickoff drinks party at their home in honor of supporters of this season's upcoming 54th annual Summer Party (theme: "Grand Prix Monaco") to benefit Southampton Hospital. It was a perfect evening out east for such a gathering. Chairman Laura Lofaro Freeman spoke passionately about the importance of the hospital's Department of Emergency Services, the beneficiary of the "mothership of all tent parties," which will occur on Saturday, August 4th.
Joining her were hospital president Bob Chaloner and longtime guardian angel of the Summer Party, Jean FitzSimmons.
Guests were especially charmed by star caterer Peter Callahan's hors d'oeurves, taking "bite sized" to a whole new level with exquisitely miniaturized morsels that boggled the mind and pleasure the palette. |

Last Wednesday night at Cipriani 42nd Street, The Nature Conservancy held its Global Gala, hosted by Meredith Vieira and recognizing as Global Conservation Leader, Robert W. Wilson, and as Corporate Conservation Leader The Dow Chemical Company. Andrew Liveris, President, Chairman and CEO of Dow accepted the award.
Mr. Wilson is a well known Wall Street investor as well as a philanthropist who offers "challenge grants" to his favorite charities. In 1998, he created the $100 million Wilson Challenge with The Nature Conservancy to encourage giving to global conservation. Last year he pledged $209 million to match gifts from donors outside the United States, bringing the impact of his original "Challenge" to $286 million. Dow Chemical and the Nature Conservancy are working together on a breakthrough collaboration to help Dow and the business community recognize, value and incorporate nature into business decisions. |
