In support of the Southampton Hospital’s 53rd Annual Summer Gala, Bill Finneran hosted the President’s Committee Reception last Friday evening, July 22, 2011, at his beautiful Southampton Estate. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from GloriousFood, and music from a live mariachi band.
The upcoming Summer Gala, “A Tropical Paradise,” will be chaired for the second year by Jean Shafiroff, who expressed her gratitude to this year’s committee members and Hospital staff for their hard work and support. Hospital President and CEO Robert S. Chaloner greeted guests, joking that “when staying in the Hamptons, the last place you would want to be is in a hospital!” He went on to say, “However, if you are ill, you will not find a better local hospital to take care of you. In the last several years, Southampton Hospital has completely renovated and expanded critical departments, including our Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department, the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center, the Kathleen D. Allen Maternity Center and the Ed & Phyllis Davis Wellness Institute among other areas. Supporters like you have enabled quality healthcare in the Hamptons.”

| The time-honored tradition supports the Hospital’s Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department, which was named after the Paulsons in recognition of their generous support. The hospital serves more than 25,000 residents and visitors annually on Long Island’s South Fork. Tiffany & Co. is the Honorary Jewelry Chair, Barclay’s Wealth is the Honorary Corporate Chair, Cushman and Wakefield is the Honorary Commercial Real Estate Chair and Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate is the Honorary Residential Real Estate Chair. The highly-anticipated Southampton Hospital’s 53rd Annual Summer Party will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2011 under the tents at the corner of Wickapogue and Old Town Roads in Southampton, New York. |

Some of the world’s most legendary culinary clans gathered last month for the 26th Annual “Chefs’ Tribute to Citymeals-on-Wheels” titled “A Taste of Home: Star Chefs and Wineries Celebrate Family Feasts.” World-renowned chefs; family wineries; and chefs who have been cooking together for so long that they feel like family, united for the most highly anticipated culinary event of the year. Chefs prepared mouth-watering dishes at tasting stations throughout the Rockefeller Center Plaza. Sandra Lee, Editor-in-Chief, Semi-Homemade Magazine; New York Times Bestselling author and Food Network celebrity, served as this year’s Emcee and Honorary Co-Chair.
The event raised $772,000, enough to fund the preparation and delivery of 128,000 meals nutritious meals, hand-delivered to frail, homebound elderly New Yorkers. |

“This year’s theme of family and home is especially fitting. Most of our homebound elderly live all alone—having survived the loss of their spouses, friends, even children,” said Marcia Stein, executive director of Citymeals-on-Wheels. “Tonight, we are their family, making sure there is always a meal at the door and a caring person to deliver it. I would like to thank our gifted chefs, our extraordinary wineries, and everyone who helped fill the plates and hearts of our most vulnerable New Yorkers tonight.”
This year’s family feast was designed by renowned architect David Rockwell. More than 1,000 business leaders, gourmet enthusiasts, food industry trendsetters, socialites, young professionals, chefs and restaurateurs attended. Live music and dancing added another vibrant dash to the festivities. |
