Approximately 1,300 leaders, staff, and friends of The Mount Sinai Medical Center gathered on Thursday, May 5, under an enormous tent at the Central Park Conservatory Garden to celebrate a year of significant discoveries and accomplishments for Mount Sinai, at the 26th Crystal Party. The annual spring event, hosted by Mount Sinai Trustee Jeff T. Blau and his wife Lisa, raised more than $3 million that will be used to support medical research initiatives at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Guests enjoyed cocktails, a three-course meal, and live music as they danced and mingled. The event was held within view of Mount Sinai’s new 12- story Center for Science and Medicine. The building is scheduled for completion in 2012. |

Neuwirth was recognized for her 12 years of services as a trustee of The Actors Fund, and the founder of The Dancers’ Resource—a program of The Actors Fund aimed at relieving the particular emotional and physical challenges faced by dancers. Both Neuwirth and Stengel will receive The Actors Fund Medal of Honor, and Pacino will receive the Lee Strasberg Artistic Achievement Award.
The Actors Fund is a national human services organization that helps everyone—performers and those behind the scenes—who works in performing arts and entertainment, helping more than 12,000 people directly each year, and hundreds of thousands online.
Serving professionals in film, theatre, television, music, opera, radio and dance, The Fund’s programs include social services and emergency assistance, health care and insurance, housing, and employment and training services. With offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, The Actors Fund has—for nearly 130 years—been a safety net for those in need, crisis or transition.
In attendance were previous Actors Fund Medal of Honor Recipients and honorees Alec Baldwin, Annette Bening, Jonathan Tisch, Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley.
