This past Thursday night at the American Museum of Natural History, they held the annual Museum Dance. As New York City’s longest running junior benefit, the black tie affair brings together influential and philanthropic young professionals to celebrate and raise essential funds for the Museum’s scientific and educational programs, which enable thousands of underserved New York City school children to visit the Museum annually.
The event which was held on the eve of the Royal Wedding, celebrated British culture, and guests were encouraged to dress in British fashion. |

Dinner and dessert was followed by dancing with music provided by DJ Jus-Ske. There was a silent auction.

On a Thursday night earlier last month the All Stars Project (ASP) celebrated its 30th anniversary at its national gala benefit, “Give Back, Get Back,"
at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center and $2.27 million for its innovative after-school youth development programs.
Ben Vereen was presented with the ASP’s 2011 Bridge Building Award for Leadership in Community Relations by Lenora B. Fulani, Ph.D., ASP co-founder, and Howard Teich, Esq., first recipient of the Bridge Building Award and past president of the American Jewish Congress, Metropolitan Region.
The All Stars Project also paid tribute to a cross section of employees from its national corporate sponsors, D&B, Ernst and Young, Latham and Watkins, MetLife and Tiffany and Co., who have volunteered their time and given their talent to support the growth and development of inner-city youth. |

The All Stars Project of New Jersey presented its expansion campaign to open a new facility, The Scott H. Flamm Center for Afterschool Development, in downtown Newark - a thriving hub of cultural activities, giving young people from the poorest communities opportunities to work with the best professionals in theatre, business and education.
Two business leaders from New Jersey were recognized for their efforts to transform the lives of young people in Newark, David Jones, the CEO of CastleOak Securities and Drew Vaden, the CIO of Nomura Holding America.
The Gala was hosted by Bill Weir, co-host of ABC-TV’s award winning news show, Nightline. The evening featured hip-hop, rap, and dance performances by youth of the All Stars Project.

Last Monday night, Books for Kids hosted their 25th Anniversary Gala at The Plaza. The black tie Gala honored Patrick Daley, educator and Senior Vice President and Publisher of Scholastic. Susan B. Neuman, one of the nation's preeminent experts in early childhood literacy, spoke about the link between issues that continue to plague our nation: poverty, illiteracy and failing early childhood education. CNBC correspondent, Sharon Epperson, was emcee and shared personal stories about literacy through the evening.
The event celebrated 25 years of inspiring children to discover the magical world of books and underscores the important work that Books for Kids does year round for promoting literacy among all children.

More than 200 guests enjoyed a live auction with Erin Doherty as the auctioneer and everyone danced into the night with music by Peter Duchin Big Band. The evening raised over $150,000 to help continue to build libraries and inspire children across the country.
