Leighton Meester at the Seventh Annual CFDA / VOGUE Fashion Fund Award at Skylight Soho. |
| Anyone who was anyone in fashion and fashion celebrity-dom was at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards this past Monday at the Skylight Soho. Karl Lagerfeld lost his vintage chanel diamond feather brooch diamond pin, and for a while there people like Diane von Furstenberg and Carey Mulligan were on the floor looking for it, although it was retrieved by photographer Neil Rasmus. Aerin Lauder and Karlie Kloss wore the same dress by Stella McCartney. |

The New York Chapter of French Heritage Society had their third annual Black Tie Gala at the Metropolitan Club tonight (11/16/2010). It was a joyous affair. This year, FHS honored Chef Ariane Daguin, the woman who brought truffles to the States. As FHS Board member and Wine consultant George Sape said when he introduced her, "There is not a chef on the East Coast, three star, two star or one star or wanna be, who doesn’t know her."
After cocktails and hor d’œuvres in the jam packed foyer, guests made their entrance into the ballroom under a canopy of swords provided by three Muskeeters. The Bob Hardwick Sound had guests dancing even before they went to their tables. During a break between first and second course, the musketeers took over the dance floor to give a demonstration of the art of fencing.

This year’s Gala also honored the region of Gascony, a precursor to the 30th Anniversary, which the Society will celebrate with a trip to the Gascon region in the Southwest of France. It will include a cultural and culinary trip through Gascony. The celebration will culminate in a spectacular ball at the Château de Fontainebleau on October 13, 2012.
Elizabeth Stribling, Chairman of the FHS Board, welcomed everyone, explaining how Gascony is featured in novels, food and wine. Comte Denis de Kergorlay, FHS President said to mark your calendars for the 30th Anniversary celebration.
Co-Chairmen of the Gala were CeCe Black, Margo Langenberg and Jean Shafiroff.
There were 220 guests. The money raised will further the mission of FHS to protect the French architectural legacy both in France and the United States with particular emphasis on preservation and education. In its 28 years, the Society has grown to 13 Chapters across the United States and one in Paris. FHS has contributed to over 460 restoration grants and provided more than $18 million, including matching funds, to projects in virtually every department in France and to properties in the United States that reflect France’s historic influence. The Society also fosters long-established French-American relationships in two ways. One, it organizes trans-Atlantic student internship opportunities and two, it offers its’ members enriching cultural trips in France and the U.S.
Among the guests: Daniel Boulud, Diandra Douglas, Lee Black, Irene Aitken and Konrad Keesee, Barbara Bancroft, Frances and William Bruder, Sharon Bush and Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, Zita Davisson, Barbara de Portago, Martin Shafiroff, Michèle Gerber Klein, Yaz and Valentin Hernandez, Grace and Chris Meigher, Anka Palitz, Ann Rapp, Roy Kean, Jeri Sape, Patricia and Robert Shiah, Elizabeth Stafford and Count Nicholas Wenckhein, Barbara and Peter Regna, Guy Robinson, Barbara and Donald Tober, Victoria and Frank Wyman, Marianne and John Wyman, Isabelle Orliac, Comte Marc de Gontaut Biron, Bettina Zilkha, The Honorable Phillippe Lalliot, Consul General of France in New York and Mrs. Laurence Folliot Lalliot. |
