| Fire Island has several communities of denizens for decades. One of its famous is the gay communities of the Pines and Cherry Grove. And like all the communities along the beautiful beaches of the South Shore of Long Island, these communities celebrate the holidays of summer with a certain zest, and in this case, a certain declaration of independence and verve. |
