More than 375 people attended the event and more than $400,000 was raised for medical education. It was a magical evening with guests enjoying the entertainment by cabaret star KT Sullivan at the Rainbow Room. “Ongoing medical education is essential to remain at the forefront of innovative procedures,” said Cynthia D. | “The hospital’s top notch medical education program benefits patients and physicians throughout the world and underscores our leadership in the areas of orthopedics, rheumatology, anesthesiology, musculoskeletal radiology, rehabilitation and sports medicine. Support raised through this event helps grow HSS’s award-winning medical education program.” A key component to HSS’s education and training is the HSS Journal, a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year that features articles by the hospital’s faculty and alumni. In each edition, the journal presents innovative research, clinical pathways and the latest in techniques to educate physicians and surgeons and to further the hospital's broad-based education mission. |

The Cinema Society and Details magazine hosted a screening of Milk, the Gus Van Sant directed film that was just named the Best Picture by the New York Film Critics’ Circle. This is a film that everybody who’s seen it is talking about. Sean Penn, the picture’s star, gives a performance of a lifetime playing Harvey Milk, the first openly gay US politician in San Francisco in the 1970s. Oscars, Golden Globes, a lot of people think he should take them all, his performance is so all-consuming.
The star was there; and his co-stars Josh Brolin, James Franco, Emile Hirsch and Joseph Cross were all on hand too, for what many agreed was the most dazzling premiere party New York has seen in ages. Even Sean Penn and his co-stars were having a good time, still going strong, drinking Moet and Belvedere cocktails at close to 2 am as the party just couldn’t wind down. Among the notables paying homage to the Director and his Star were Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, Natalie Portman, Lauren Bacall, Frances McDormand and Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, Willem Dafoe, Patricia Clarkson, Ang Lee, Juliette Lewis, Jon Voight, Stanley Tucci, Jeff Goldblum, James Gandolfini, Mickey Rourke, Adrian Grenier, Parker Posey, Rosie Perez, Steve Buscemi, Alan Rickman, Peter Dinklage, Mark Consuelos, Helena Christensen, Eva Amurri, Michel Gondry, Dean Winters, Heather Matarazzo, Rainn Wilson (“The Office”), Jenna Fischer (“The Office”), Dick Cavett, Charlie Rose, Roger Waters, Marisa Berenson, Rose Byrne (“Damages”), Sarah Wynter, John Cameron Mitchell, Julian Schnabel, Tony Bennett, Lee Radziwill, Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) ... |
